Marketing your website offline
Wednesday, 31 January 2007

A lot of focus these days is getting your website found online via a search engine such as Google or Yahoo – and this is important.  However people tend forget some of the very cost effective offline things they can do to promote their website.

One of the most powerful things a business person can do to promote their website is to hand over their business card and say something to the effect of "If you have any questions, here is my card – you can also look at our << insert product / service here >> via our website – which is also on my card".  Do your staff actively promote your website?  Read our article here – Getting staff involved is the key to successful up take of your site.

Other things you can do include:

  • Making sure your website is on all stationary such as business cards, letterheads and with comp slips
  • Make sure your website address is on all store and vehicle signage
  • Make sure your advertising has a call to action, and consider wether your website can act as your first point of contact. I.e "Order online today at www.yourbusiness.com.au".  If you do this make sure your web address is short and memorable.
  • If you have an answering machine or message on hold service – do you state your website address?

Utilising these simple techniques will help you boost traffic to your site for minimal cost.
